MacPherson Street House

  • Client Private
  • Location Bronte
  • Sector Adaptive Re-use

With this adaptive reuse of 1920s shoptop flats as a contemporary home and refurbished shops, BKA reinvigorated a building of local heritage significance in Bronte, in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. The project sought to maintain as much as possible of the existing fabric and form while integrating a modern addition at the rear to provide spacious, sun-drenched living areas.

The two volumes, old and new, are linked via an internal landscaped courtyard and united by a refined material palette featuring timber, generous glazing, and white walls.
