Gladys Avenue boarding house, located within a low-rise residential area, is surrounded by driveways and roads on almost all sides. Through a sensible architectural design that carefully articulates the building volumes with rhythm and proportion, the development consists of six pavilions in equivalent size to a large single dwelling. Within the steep sloping site, a centralised circulation spine connects these pavilions to create an outdoor socialisation hub within the boarding house community.

Privacy to the neighbours has been considered, with all common open spaces being internalised. Furthermore, the external finishes have also been studied to fit within the character of the area, displaying warm materiality and modest pitched roof forms.
