Awaba House | Construction Complete
BKA Architecture is proud to mark the completion of construction at Awaba House following its devastating 2019 fire.
Our conservation-led design carefully balances the retention of significant heritage fabric with a contemporary new chapter for this much-loved landmark.
Original elements have been carefully retained, while new concrete, rammed earth, steel and glass create a considered dialogue between old and new.
The completed Awaba House now provides a renewed setting for café and function use, while retaining the character, stories and scars that make the building so significant.
A treasured piece of Lake Macquarie’s history, thoughtfully rebuilt for its future.
