BKA Commissioned for $24 million Redevelopment of Penshurst Park

Georges River Council has commissioned BKA has the principal design consultant for the $24 million revitalisation of Penshurst Park, in Sydney’s South, into a new sporting hub. Comprising three stages, the project will see the transformation of the existing public park into Penshurst Park Sporting Hub, a world class training and recreational destination housing sporting facilities, youth service providers, national and local sports associations, amenities, and community space. Stage 1 of the project, The Norm O’Neill Cricket Centre, will feature a combination of indoor and outdoor wickets and training grounds and be developed in close consultation with the relevant cricket authorities to ensure delivery of a leading-edge facility. Construction is due to commence in September 2017, with a view of completion in mid-2019. The second stage of the project will see the addition of a FIFA-grade synthetic sportsground, grandstand, players facilities, and bar and canteen, in addition to the construction of a new Youth Centre. Completion of this stage is anticipated in 2020. The third and final stage of the project, also expected for completion in 2020, will comprise the extension of the existing Hurstville Leisure Aquatic Centre to cater for growing visitor numbers. On completion, the expanded Centre will incorporate a full-sized futsal court alongside gymnastic spaces, indoor grandstand, players change rooms, and cafe.
